Life before Up
Belinda, or Bel as we mostly refer to her (about a million times a day as we need her), joins the Up Loans team as Office Manager, Client Service Manager and anything else that the team can dream up for her. Bel grew up in a pub, a little fact that may or may not have been on her resume (that Kirsty didn’t read). Her parents were publicans in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, where her first jobs included pumping petrol in the snow and selling witchetty grubs to fisherman because her Dad wouldn’t let her pour beer until she was 13. She eventually made it to the big city to study and work multiple hospitality jobs whilst saving up to travel the world. She spent 8 years working in the Bridal Industry both in Australia and London, followed by 12 years in the travel industry as a highly sought after travel agent, managing various travel agencies around Launceston, so obviously the natural progression from here was to enter the finance broking industry… Bel also just happened to be Kirsty’s travel agent (Kirsty may have a small travel obsession) and she jumped at the chance to work along side the Up Loans team, and to take on this exciting and challenging role in a completely new industry.
The reason Kirsty didn’t read Bel’s resume (despite the fact that they both sold witchetty grubs as children – an odd coincidence) was that she had already been floored by Bel’s awesome customer service skills and desire to communicate and excel. That’s what our team is all about here and we fundamentally believe you can’t train someone to have the right attitude. They either do or they don’t. So Bel’s primary role is to help take our clients on their journey towards a better financial outcome – whether that’s buying their first or fifth property, refinancing to save funds or working towards a future goal. If you need something, she’ll either know the answer or find it for you.
Belinda’s Property Journey
A few years back, Bel completed what might be most people’s dream – building her own home near the sand with her then Builder, now Teacher hubby, their two gorgeous girls, a small fluffy dog called Graham and an oddly round bulldog called Dulcie. They’ve now adopted 3 more animals and are onto the next exciting project after purchasing their first investment property last year – it’s a little contagious working here!
