Life before Up

Carrie Twine (formerly Hesketh) worked in real estate from 2003 taking on roles in both property management, sales and business ownership.  After spending a few years overseas volunteering in Vietnam in centres for disadvantaged and/or disabled children she returned home to Tasmania, not quite sure where this next chapter would take her.

In 2014 Carrie felt it was time to look for something outside of real estate to something that would both challenge her and put her outside of her comfort zone – mortgage broking seemed like the perfect next step! Not entirely different from her real estate background it has proven the perfect choice.  Anyone who knows her knows that she loves a chat. What other job would allow her to drink so many cups of coffee with clients each day?

Up Specialties

If there is one thing that Carrie loves to do it is to help. And when it comes down to it, that is exactly what mortgage broking is allowing her to do. Working with people as they are making big life decisions really is an honor – and helping them to find out the best way to go forward with these decisions is a real buzz.

Carrie loves to work with first home buyers. Loves it. Really. There is nothing more exciting to her than helping people get into their first home and the whoop of excitement when their finance is approved. It’s priceless.

Up there with first home buyers is her love for helping people to refinance their current mortgages to something more suited to where they are right now.  Because really, how many people are in the same position now as they were when they first set up their mortgage?  Whether it is freeing up some equity to do some updates around the home, or moving you to a product with an offset account so that you can save on the interest you pay, or just finding a suitable product with a lower interest rate to bring down those monthly repayments, there is so much to be gotten out of seeing people getting UP in life.

Of course Carrie can also help purchases of investment properties and construction loans and she can even help you in the purchase of your next vehicle (yes, we can help with car loans).  All of it gives her a buzz.

Carrie’s Property Journey

Being a licensed property consultant and assistant property manager for many years, Carrie recognises that that buying a property, whether it is your first home or your tenth home, whether it is for your family or for an investment – can often be a nerve wracking experience.

This hit home for her when, after years in real estate on one side of the transaction, Carrie found herself on the other side of the coin – and what a different experience that is!  Carrie vividly remembers buying her first home as both an overwhelming and incredibly exciting experience and saw first hand what an integral part of the process a mortgage broker can be.

Having someone to worry about all of the details for you, to sort out the paperwork, to keep you in the loop as every stage of the loan process unfolds means that you can keep your focus exactly where it should be – on imagining yourself in your new home.

Carrie loves property, and although not quite as obsessed with it as her business partner she does sometimes have withdrawals from her real estate days.  And while future property purchases are most certainly on the cards for her, she loves that she can live vicariously through her clients as they get on the purchasing band-wagon.

The Future

Carrie is someone who is always looking forward to the future. From planning her next trip overseas or a fun trip away for the weekend, to working on ways to keep on ensuring Up Loans is powering full steam ahead.

In 2015 overseas trips were put on hold for a little while as Carrie and her husband welcomed a little girl into their family.  This brought a whole new meaning to the word busy!  But after settling into the role of being Mum, Carrie has returned to work and is loving having the flexibility to both work and spend time with her daughter.

Carrie is still very involved in Vietnam.  She has spent 10 years working with the same children over there and her most treasured accomplishment is being involved with setting up a restaurant with accommodation for up to 25 children in Vietnam – a safe place for the children that she has been working with over this time to go once they are 18 and no longer able to live in government care.

Carrie believes in setting goals, and has a growing list of things to achieve personally and professionally. At Up Loans we are focused on service, focused on our clients, focused on getting the very best outcomes for every one who uses our services – and that’s a pretty exciting future.
